Cette conclusion est issue du Rapport Economique Luxembourg 2009 réalisé par la Suisse. Autre fait marquant du rapport : les échanges de services très importants entre les deux pays.
Microfinance investor demand rises in spite of financial crisis and decreased demands for funding
Virginia based microfinance rating company, MicroRate, has just published its 5th annual survey of microfinance investment vehicles. The “State of Microfinance Investment: the 2010 MicroRate MIV Survey” highlights that interest in microfinance funds remains strong despite the recession. However, MIVs are faced with higher liquidity levels due to a decrease in the need for funding.

Les banques allemandes restent les plus nombreuses sur la place financière, malgré des décisions prises dues entre autres à la crise financière. Le bilan agrégé des filiales des établissements de crédit allemands montre que les activités en 2009 ont baissé durant ces trois dernières années. Getting the best out of a volunteer programme partnership
The Institut pour le mouvemement societal au Luxembourg (IMS) recently gave a lunchtime seminar on how to go about setting up and running an employee volunteer programme. Judging by the packed audience and extended question session, there is a lot of latent interest in this sort of programme in Luxembourg. The key to a successful partnership is to ensure that all three stakeholders are at the centre of the process: the company, the volunteers and the NGO. Be committed, focus on results and above all communicate: expectation management is a must.
La faculté de droit, d’économie et de finance monte en puissance
Cinq ans après la création de la faculté, l’esprit pionnier est maintenu. Lors de la présentation du bilan de l’année académique écoulée, le doyen André Prüm dit que le Luxembourg est devenu un carrefour pour débattre des idées. Les inscriptions sont en hausse et les publications des chercheurs de plus en plus nombreuses. Malgré l’ambiance euphorique, le professeur Prüm est conscient des dangers à éviter.
Individuals can still make a difference
On 30 June Sacred Heart University (Luxembourg Campus) held an interesting conference at the Chamber of Commerce on the issue “Can individuals still make a difference? Ethics, leadership and management”. After a brief introduction by Dr. Edmond Israel, Chairman of the Board of Regents of Sacred Heart University, the principals of SHU and the University of Luxembourg made keynote speeches on the role of a university in the transmission of ethical behaviour. The different religious and ethical backgrounds of these two scientists made for an exceptionally interesting conference that stood out among the usual discussions.
La microfinance au service des migrants
Lors du 14ème Midi de la Microfinance organisé hier par ADA, l’agence Pamecas du Sénégal a présenté les résultats d’une expérience réalisée avec ADA pour valoriser l’épargne des migrants en leur offrant une gamme de produits épargne/assurance pour soutenir leurs familles restées au Sénégal et préparer leur propre retour chez eux. C’est un bon exemple des initiatives qui rendent le secteur dela microfinance si intéressant.
Positive forecast for the Luxembourg economy
The Ernst & Young Eurozone Forecast 2010 contains good news for firms doing business in the Grand Duchy. Covering the period 2009-2014, the Forecast reports that private consumption in Luxembourg hit the bottom in 2009 and is recovering to reach a steady rate of 3% by 2012-2014. At the same time inflation will remain low, at 2%, and unemployment will fall. The Forecast predicts that the Government will balance its budget by 2012.
Kneip rachète la participation de 3i à son capital
Le fournisseur de services au secteur de la gestion d'actifs, le luxembourgeois Kneip, a annoncé le 24 juin, le rachat auprès du groupe 3i, de l'intégralité de la participation de 3i à son capital. La société, qui emploie un effectif de quelque 150 personnes, précise dans un communiqué que sa forte croissance à l'international au cours des trois dernières années lui a permis de financer cette opération.

Luxembourg is being promoted aggressively by the Government as a European hub for Islamic funds. The Grand Duchy does not need to bring in new legislation, since the existing legal framework allows for the creation shariah compliant funds. These are the conclusions of the fourth edition of the Ernst & Young Islamic Funds and Investments Report 2010. 2009 saw signs of recovery in global financial markets, but there is cause for concern for the Islamic funds industry.
